Adoption Reimbursements
Children who are adopted through the Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services and meet criteria for a Special Needs child, may qualify for Non-Recurring Adoption Expenses. The adoptive family must complete the JFS 1421, Application for Reimbursement of Nonrecurring Adoption Expenses. Download the Instructions for filling out Reimbursement of Nonrecurring Adoption Expenses and the JFS 1421 Application for Reimbursement of Nonrecurring Adoption Expenses, from the forms bin to the right.
The form must be reviewed and approved by Columbiana County Department of Job and Family Services. If the adoptive child is eligible for the Nonrecurring Adoption Expenses, the JFS 1438, Agreement for Payment or Reimbursement for Nonrecurring Expenses Incurred in the Adoption of a Special Needs Child, will be signed by both the agency representative and the adoptive parents. The adoptive parents can be reimbursed up to $1,000.00 per child, for the adoption. This amount can cover medical exams, attorney fees, court costs and other fees that are incurred while in the process of adopting a child. The specific expenses can be discussed with your adoption worker, which you would work with during the adoption process.
